Relive the Oil Crisis of 2007. Use the Wayback Machine at the Internet Archive to explore the 32 weeks of the oil shock.
“What is the game archive? How do I enter?”
World Without Oil launched on April 30, 2007, and concluded on June 1, 2007. It gathered over 1,500 in-game player stories during those 33 days, in the form of blog posts, online videos and images, and voicemails. You can access these stories through the miracle of the Wayback Machine at the Internet Archive. Go here to see the Archive and then use the Wayback Machine to travel back to the weeks of the crisis.
“The game seems to be over. Can I still play?”
World Without Oil concluded on June 1, 2007. We're no longer publishing links to in-game stories on the WWO site (unless they're really good). But everyone is welcome to sign up as a Netizen Hero and to participate in "WWO Lives," our ongoing blog about all matters WWO. We will definitely link to good in-game stories from the WWO Lives blog.
“I found a broken link. Now what?”
Try Our Backup Archive
WWO is made up of stories that players uploaded to sites such as LiveJournal, YouTube, Flickr and so on; we link to these host sites from the WWO site. As time goes on, these links may break. If you find a broken link, try the back-up archive for World Without Oil at www.archive-it.org.
“What's going on now? Is there a WWO blog?”
WWO guy Ken Eklund follows WWO themes at the "WWO Lives" blog. He's tracking trends and analysis about oil demand and supply as well as developments in the serious game and alternate reality game space.
