Dr. Susan Lydell "What?" Fran says, syringe poised. Then she lowers it slowly, and you hear what they hear: the sound of running feet. Then the doorway is filled with white-coated people and pushing through them all is Dr. Lydell.
"Good to see you," she says to you briskly. "Sorry we're late. What's that you've got?" she asks as she kneels alongside Fran. "Forty milligrams of Methicillin," Fran says faintly. The doctor nods. "Good," she says. "Administer it." She keeps one eye on Fran as Fran smoothly completes the injection. Others rush in with lactate transfusions. The man's eyes close in relief. "Good work. I'll take it from here, Fran," Dr. Lydell says. "Oh good," says Fran absently, and this time you are there to catch her when she falls. |
