The WWO lesson plans enable middle and high school teachers to conduct their own "mini-WWO" class event. The lessons tie into contemporary U.S. history, world history, current events, economics and government (energy policy and sustainability), humanities and creative writing/journalism.

WWO Study Guides are also available. There is a Study Guide for high school teachers on oil dependence and energy policy. The Guide contains a Report On The Crisis section for preparing in-game stories plus a Crash Course on the role of petroleum in modern American life.
