Foster responds:

All right then. It's a shrimp and crawdad supper for me!

He catches all the shrimp, crawdads and other creatures he can find, and puts them in the freezer. But despite this the carbon dioxide level in his pod continues to rise, and eventually reaches 0.5%. The emergency hatch opens, and the simulation is over.

Subsequent investigation shows that the creature populations in his tank were at normal levels, and not the cause of his problem. Your decision was not correct.
