WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?
There's this expression, "zed omega." It means "so over." When you go zed omega, you are done. Ed Zed Omega means "we are done with education." Specifically, Ed Zed Omega is six Minneapolis teens dropping out of high school.

But – guidance counselor Mary Johnson makes a deal with them: one last semester of self-directed study. A crowdsourced exploration of what education is and what it should be.

WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON HERE?
We're about to launch a collaborative thought experiment about education – like a documentary, but live and interactive on social media. It runs for fall semester 2012, August 15 to November 15. And we want you to help shape the story.

WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?
To try a playful approach to a serious subject. The teens and other people framing the story are authentically played by actors online – they seem real. We hope they will be a catalyst for people – teachers, parents, teens and tweens, and everyone else concerned about the state of education – to share their experiences, ideas and dreams.

COOL. HOW DO I JOIN IN?
It's easy. Just play along. Interact with our characters online as though they were real. Share your experiences with school and your ideas about reimagining education. First step: like a Zed Omega on Facebook, or send them an email.
