Star Trek
Deep Space Nine:
Harbinger

Quark Audio File

Writerguy joined this project at its inception. He worked closely with lead writer Sarah Stocker and Hilary J. Bader, Star Trek TV writer, to plot the game's storyline, script the movies and develop the game's cast of characters.

Harbinger's hook is the voices of the TV cast, and game design and writing focused on maximizing that asset. All dialog is spoken, and the player has latitude to make decisions which alter the course of the game. Sarah and Writerguy scripted the deeply interactive dialogs for Stormfront's proprietary dialog engine. They also voice-directed the cast members, coaching them on context so that every line has appropriate inflections, pacing and mood.

The result: playing the game is like participating in an extended DS9 episode. Conversations with Sisko, Dax, Kira, Odo and Quark sound and feel like conversations with the TV cast. Harbinger won a 1997 Codie Award for "Best Use of Live Talent in Multimedia."
